Michael L. Lopez first joined the City of Brownsville in March 2015 as the City Secretary and was promoted to Planning and Development Services Department Director in April 2016.   In July 2016 he was appointed  Assistant City Manager.

Michael L. Lopez has over 15 years of leadership, management and public sector experience.  He brings senior management experience in Federal, County and City government including: public policy, organizational development, planning and zoning, grants management, public works and elections. 

Lopez holds a Master of Public Administration from National University in San Diego, California, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University in Fresno, California. Lopez is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.
