BROWNSVILLE, Texas (January 31, 2018) – The City of Brownsville Municipal Court will hold a warrant amnesty period from Monday, February 12, 2018, to Friday, March 2, 2018.

During the warrant amnesty period, the Brownsville Municipal Court will waive Failure to Appear fines ($230) and Capias pro fines ($50) for individuals who visit the Brownsville Municipal Court and pay the outstanding balance of their underlying ticket(s).

Individuals must visit the Brownsville Municipal Court in person to be eligible to participate in the program, unless other arrangements are approved by the Presiding Judge or Assistant Municipal Court Director.

No arrests will be made for individuals who voluntarily visit the Brownsville Municipal Court during the designated warrant amnesty period.

“Residents are urged to take advantage of this year’s amnesty period and resolve outstanding fines and warrants,” said Brownsville Municipal Court Presiding Judge Robert “Bobby” Lerma. “We are here to assist the community and encourage everyone to take advantage of this great opportunity. Come visit any of our three Brownsville Municipal Court locations during February’s amnesty period.”
