City of Brownsville
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The City of Brownsville and the EPA will host a short series of community charrettes beginning Monday, June 19, 2017, through Wednesday, June 21, 2017, as part of the EPA’s Greening America’s Communities (GAC) Program.

Brownsville is one of six communities across the nation selected to receive technical assistance with sustainable design strategies by the EPA under its GAC Program. Through the GAC Program, the EPA will assist Brownsville in using green infrastructure and other environmentally-friendly designs for the International Boulevard corridor, between I-69 and the Gateway International Bridge, and promoting a more walkable, bikeable, and vibrant neighborhood.

A Walking Workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Alice Wilson Hope Park, 1300 E. Levee Street in Brownsville. Residents are encouraged to attend and present ideas on what they envision for the design of the International Boulevard corridor.

Following the Walking Workshop and various stakeholder meetings, a Final Public Presentation will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Jacob Brown Auditorium – Youth Center, 600 International Blvd. in Brownsville. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback and additional comments on final design presentations.
