Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) is proud to offer various funding opportunities to qualifying non-profit organizations for projects or events that help stimulate the local economy and improve Brownsville residents' quality of life. Throughout the year organizations are given the opportunity to submit an application for a promotional sponsorship/grant or a project grant. Promotional sponsorship's are awarded in amounts of $5,000 or less and are for events or programming that support BCIC's mission.
Project grants are awarded to capital projects that follow the guidelines established by the state laws governing Type B economic development corporations. Eligible projects include land, buildings, equipment, facilities, targeted infrastructure and improvements for:
Professional and amateur sports and athletic facilities, tourism and entertainment facilities convention facilities and public parks
Related store, restaurant, concession, parking and transportation facilities
Related street, water and sewer facilities
To promote and develop new and expanded business enterprises that create or retain primary jobs, BCIC may also fund:
Public safety facilities
Streets, roads, drainage and related improvements
Demolition of existing structures
General municipally owned improvements
Maintenance and operating costs associated with projects
