Fire Explorers

The purpose of the Brownsville Fire Explorer Program is to expose co-ed high school students and young adults between the age's of 14 to 20 years old to a future career in the Fire Service. It will provide an opportunity to meet local fire personnel, observe daily firefighting activities at the station, and learn about the firefighting/paramedic field.

Explorer members will receive hours of training in skills, uniform etiquette, responsibility, and team work. In addition, Explorers participate in community events to promote the Fire Department and its activities, meet community members, and act as a representative of the Brownsville Fire Department. Explorers may participate in various Fire Department exercises, conduct community service activities, and other tasks as may be required.


Future explorers must possess the following qualifications:
  • Must be between the ages of 14 to 20 years old
  • No felony convictions
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to make all meetings and events!
  • $150 to start the BFE Program, no refunds


  • 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month
  • 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
