The 1st ever Scarecrow Trail at Dean Porter Park begins Friday, October 19th, 2018.
Halloween is in the air. Come to Dean Porter Park for the Movie in the Patch and enjoy the parks path and scarecrow trail. This colorful and exciting fall event brings enjoyment to the entire community. See all of the creative, spooky and fun scarecrows your community members have built!
If you want to do more than see, participate! Enter your own scarecrow for competition.
When it comes to your Scarecrow, your "Crow Crew’s" imagination is the limit! This contest is open to any business, organization, individual or family.
Voting will take place on the trail's opening day: Friday, October 19th, 2018. The Scarecrow Trail will last through November 3rd, 2018.
WHAT’S WITH ALL THE SCARECROWS?
The 1st Annual Scarecrow Trail's goal is to encourage kids and families to get back in touch with the outdoors. We hope that this will begin a new tradition in Brownsville. We hope the trail will grow each year, and that everyone will enjoy scarecrows created by businesses, families and organizations.
GIVE BACK WITH A SCARECROW
Each scarecrow represents a desire to get children unplugged and back in nature. By entering a scarecrow, you help maintain Dean Porter Park, a 27-acre park, a place where our community can enjoy more green time and less screen time.
BE SEEN BY THE RGV
Last year, our Movie In the Patch was attended by more than 3,000 kids and families from in and around Brownsville and the lower RGV. This isn't counting the number of people that shared via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Make your ‘crow an awesome display that shares your message and represents your business, organization or family, while encouraging folks to get outside and enjoy nature! You must provide a placard with your info logo or name to identify your participation. Your "Scare Crew" will be recognized on our site and social media.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
You can register and pay online by visiting cob.recdesk.com Method of payment: credit/debit cards only. The entry fee is $25 per scarecrow for schools and nonprofits. The fee for businesses and individuals is $35. Entry forms and fees must be received by Thursday October 10, 2018 4 p.m.
