Hurricane Awareness Fair 2017

WHAT:
The City of Brownsville’s Office of Emergency Management invites the community to attend the Hurricane Awareness Fair 2017 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Brownsville Public Library System – Main Branch, 2600 Central Blvd. in Brownsville.

The 2017 Hurricane Awareness Fair is a free family event that aims to prepare residents for hurricane season which begins June 1 through November 30. The fair will feature informational presentations regarding hurricane and emergency preparedness; equipment displays; over 100 door prizes; and food and beverages for the first 1,500 attendees.

Hurricane Awareness Fair 2017 presenters include: the City’s Public Works Department; the City’s Public Health & Wellness Department; the National Weather Service; Brownsville Public Utilities Board; 2-1-1; Belinda Zapata Farmers® Insurance; Texas Division of Emergency Management; and Republic Services.

“The 2017 Hurricane Awareness Fair is an excellent opportunity for residents to learn about preparedness measures for their families. Preparedness is crucial for any type of natural disaster, not only hurricanes,” said Office of Emergency Management Director Odee Ann Leal. “Residents will receive important information from local businesses, non-profit organizations, city departments, and state departments regarding preparedness.”

Individuals must be present to win door prizes.
