Brownsville Metro Named FTA Region VI 2017 Transit System of the Year

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (March 23, 2017) – On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, Brownsville Metro was honored with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region VI 2017 Transit System of the Year award at the Texas Transit Association’s 2017 Training, Expo, & Roadeo in Lubbock, Texas.

The award, presented by the FTA Region VI Office, honors Brownsville Metro for excellence in meeting FTA’s program requirements, including grant management, program compliance and reporting.

Brownsville Metro was named 2017 Transit System of the Year among all Region VI designated and direct grantees, including: state Departments of Transportation (DOTs); small and large urban area transit providers; and tribal grantees across Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

“Receiving this award is such an honor for Brownsville Metro, the City of Brownsville, and for our entire community,” said Brownsville Metro Director Norma Zamora. “We treat all of our patrons like family and work to ensure they arrive to their destinations safely and comfortably. This recognition is a testament to Brownsville Metro’s continued dedication to providing excellent, efficient and reliable public transportation services for all.”
